J & P SECURITY (PVT) LTD SERVICES CLASHES WITH NUMAIZ OVER NONE PAYMENT OF EMPLOYEE’S TERMINAL BENEFITS

J & P Security Services (Pvt) Ltd is up in arms with National Union of Metal and Allied Industries in Zimbabwe (NUMAIZ) after the union recently sued the Rapid Response Company at the civil court following its failure to pay terminal benefits to a former employee Tapiwa Chigwaze.

The Giant Security Company which offers the widest range of security services from manned guarding, rapid response, cash-in-transit, recruitment, investigation, training and consulting services has neglected to pay Chigwaze his terminal benefits after the parties had mutually agreed to terminate the contract of employment.

Chigwaze and J & P Security Services (Pvt) Ltd had agreed before the Designated Agent for the Electronics Industry, Boniface Madzivabende that the employer will pay the former employee US$1227.54 in terminal benefits.

“Now the employer is refusing to pay him his money giving flimsy excuses which are a clear sign that he is avoiding payment,’ said Henry Tarumbira who is the General Secretary of NUMAIZ a union which represents J and P Security Services (Pvt) Ltd Rapid Response employees. We have approached the civil court to get redress regarding the matter,” added Tarumbira.

NUMAIZ have foiled J & P Security Services’ intention to illegally dismiss Chigwaze following unsubstantiated allegations of possessing fuel.

Chigwaze was dismissed after internal disciplinary proceedings which the company decided to abandon after a spirited challenge from NUMAIZ and settled for a mutual terminal benefits.

Reached for comment, Lloyd Ruhwaya, Human Resources Manager for J and P Security Services (Pvt) Ltd declined to comment over the issue saying that he was attending a funeral.
