COLOURSEL Manufacturing has been hailed for creating over 500 jobs in the city of Bulawayo in a development which has gone a long way to ease unemployment in the city.

The company is a major furniture and home appliance retail chain established in 2008, two years after its registration in terms of the statute laws of Zimbabwe (Companies Act 24:03).

Coloursel modestly commenced operations with dual branches in Kadoma and Chegutu in 2008 and over the years Coloursel has progressively grown its branch network to an expansive 31 branches throughout the country.

During this same period the company not only successfully launched 2 signature brands namely Home Centre in June 2012 and Premier Coloursel in November 2013 but also acquired dealerships of 2 Samsung Brand stores in October 2013 and a Sealy Brand store in June 2015.

From such humble beginning the company has grown from strength to strength and recently attracted the government’s acknowledgement.

“The last time I visited the same factory, they only had 33 people working, it was in 2019, just before COVID and now they have 700. This is impressive progress in terms of employment creation and they have created a market for their finished products,” said Modi.

“I am very happy to see the progress from the last time I saw it. It is very remarkable and I hope every manufacturing company can do something like this in Bulawayo,” Deputy Industry and Commerce Minister Raj Modi said recently.

The company has since opened 4 specialized bed shops under the name Coloursel Mattress which offer an array of beds, of different sizes, comfort and quality to cater for every pocket.

Currently, the company has scooped several accolades which include; Zimbabwe Business Awards 2014: Best Furniture and Home Appliances Retailer in Zimbabwe, Zimbabwe International Trade Fair 2015: Best First Time Exhibit SMEs International Expo 2015: Silver Medal Award Youngest Entrepreneur and the Confederation of Zimbabwe Retailers 2015: Furniture Retailer of the Year.
