FFAWUZ welcome two new affiliates

THE Food Federation and Allied Workers Union of Zimbabwe (FFAWUZ) has welcomed two new affiliate members who recently joined the family.

FFAWUZ secretary general, Runesu Dzimiri said the recent affiliation signifies the trust which fellow unions have in the umbrella organ.

“The coming on board of the two sectors adds to the existing 10 affiliates under the federation. This is in response to our t 2021 Congress themed ‘Building a Trade Union par Excellence, beyond the ENCLAVE. Resilience, Commitment and Endurance’,” he said.

“We urge workers in the food industry to throw full weight behind the just registered unions in the spirit of fighting for a decent life,” he said.

The Zimbabwe Food Manufacturing and Allied Workers Union (ZFMAWU) were registered by the Public Service and Labour Ministry on the 9th of September 2024 under Certificate No. 4/2024   in terms of Section 33 of the Labour Act (Chapt28:01.

Similarly, the Sugar Refinery and Allied Workers Union (SRAWU) were also registered on the Second of July 2024 under Certificate Number 2/2024.

Subsequently, the just registered unions have affiliated under the FFAWUZ, a Zimbabwe Congress of Trade Unions affiliate.

The food federation is the country’s dominant umbrella organ in the food industry following a traceable record of professionalism dating back to the 1990s.
